ABOUT US

Ali and Mark met in 1998 whilst living and working in London. With a shared passion for wine and adventure they spent "very valuable" time in Europe but especially France and predominantly Champagne whenever time would allow. Fast forward to 2014 and Marks surgical career would lead them from the UK with 2 children, 3 dogs and a cat in tow to South Australia and more specifically Piccadilly in the Adelaide Hills where they started their boutique wine brand Piccadilly Vineyards.

In 2016 the inaugural offering of Piccadilly Circus Blanc de Blancs Sparkling was made and on release was greeted with a top 10 finish in the SA Hot 100 wines. Now with a Chardonnay, a Pinot Noir and a Rose in their stable of wines life is good, busy and always interesting.

OUR VINEYARD

Our vineyard is situated in the heart of the Piccadilly Valley between Stirling and Summertown in the Adelaide Hills. At 470m above sea level the climate is perfect for growing Chardonnay grapes with cool nights and warm sunny days. The planting of the vines began back in 1987 with the Mendoza clone and was followed by I10V1 and more recently a parcel of G9V7. The soil is a mix of sandy loam and clay over shale and limestone which ideally suits our vines growing cycle. The vines are carefully tended using organic and sustainable practices. Our wines are single estate grown and handcrafted to reflect the unique terroir of the Piccadilly Valley and are a true expression of the quality of fruit grown in our vineyard.

Piccadilly Circus Sparkling is a methode traditionnelle Blanc de Blancs made from our single estate, hand harvested Chardonnay grapes. Primary fermentation takes place in a mixture of french oak and stainless steel and once complete the base wine is transferred to bottles for secondary fermentation, yeast and sugar are added to give the base wine the opportunity to sparkle. The wine will remain like this for a minimum of 15 months before it is ready to be disgorged for drinking.

Our still wines are made using natural yeast, they are unfined and only every lightly filtered if at all so they can accurately reflect the vintage in which they were created.
